Martha My Dear in Wilmington, NC recently completed our largest drapery installation to date at the stunning Figure Eight Island Yacht Club and it was nothing short of spectacular. From start to finish, the day was filled with excitement, teamwork, and a whole lot of beautiful fabric.

We had the honor of draping both the ceremony tent and the reception tent for Kickstand Events, completely transforming the space into an elevated, romantic celebration. With perfect weather, an incredible venue, and a flawless design vision, we truly could not have asked for a better day.

Transforming the Ceremony + Reception Spaces

The goal for this event was simple: create an atmosphere that felt timeless, elegant, and immersive while still allowing the natural beauty of Figure Eight Island to shine through. Drapery was the star of the show, adding softness, movement, and architectural interest to both tents.

For this installation, we focused on:

Sweeping ceiling draping to add height and drama
Soft, layered fabric to create warmth and romance
Beautiful custom awnings at both entrances of the tents
Thoughtful placement to enhance the tent structure without overpowering it

The result was a space that felt refined yet inviting, effortlessly luxurious and perfectly suited for a coastal wedding of this scale.
