Martha My Dear Rentals Featured Vendor, Floral/Christmas Designer and Buddy The Elf in real life… Dillon from Designs By Dillon is all of the above and more. If you’ve ever met him you will quickly learn that he is not only someone who is super easy to talk to but is as funny as he is nice. We asked him a few questions about his job, working with event rentals and here’s what he had to say….
Tell us about your business? What you do, who you serve, your specialty?
I am a full service design company specializing in Christmas installations, florals, and planning in Wilmington, NC. We cater to weddings, corporate events, private parties, and pretty much anything else that we can help transform into our clients dream vision. With that said we really love to personally meet all of our clients and build a relationship with them, this is something that is very important to me as I feel meeting my clients really gives me inspiration for their designs along with getting a sense of their personality and style.
What is the best part about your job?
Hmmmm that’s a tough one because I truly love the entire aspect of my job, it’s literally my dream career and I still have to pinch myself occasionally to ensure myself that it’s real. With that said there are definitely pros and cons to the business as with any business. As you probably already know my favorite part is the actual design aspect, I love sitting down with clients and dreaming up creative ideas for their wedding or event.
Explain the design/theme you put together in our showroom?
The design/theme that I designed for Martha My Dear this month was a fun and energetic Christmas design. I went with your more traditional christmas colors (red & green) with pops of whites, golds, and silvers. I even did a hanging garland swag above one of Martha's farm tables in the shape of an M!!
What’s your favorite item from the Martha My Dear Rentals collection?
I am in love with Marthas new Stewart and Sadie sofas! These velvet beauties are sure to transform any event! Add in one of her rugs, a coffee table, and matching side chairs and your guest will most definitely be lounging in style and comfort! Also, did I mention these are in blush or navy?!
Any advice, words of wisdom for couples that are planning their wedding and considering adding specialty rentals?
DO IT! Not only do specialty rentals add a touch of bliss to your event, they are truly functional! Your guest will love having the comfort of a couch or arm chair to relax in while enjoying cocktail hour, or during your reception when elderly guest need a safe escape from the loud music! There are endless options with rentals, and you surely won’t be disappointed with choosing Martha My Dear for all of your specialty rental needs!
This month we had the honor of having Dillon decorate our specialty rentals showroom in Wilmington, NC and gave him literally no direction and told him to just do whatever he wanted.
